AIADMK DMK Political News
In a significant move to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s public healthcare system, Health Minister Ma Subramanian announced on Tuesday that all 48 vacant dentist posts in the state’s government dental colleges will be filled immediately through the Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB).
The announcement was made while inaugurating new equipment and infrastructure upgrades at the Government Dental College, Chennai.
Strengthening Dental Infrastructure and Staffing
According to the minister, along with the 48 dentist vacancies, recruitment for 450 technical staff in the dental colleges has also been completed. The appointment orders for these posts will be officially handed over by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in the coming days.
This follows the Dental Council of India (DCI) issuing a notice to the Tamil Nadu Health Department last month citing deficiencies in faculty attendance at government dental institutions. The latest move is expected to address these concerns and improve the quality of education and patient care.
Minister Responds to AIADMK’s Contempt Plea
When questioned about the controversy surrounding the naming of a state health scheme after Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Ma Subramanian responded strongly. He said it was “strange” that the AIADMK had filed a contempt plea over the issue.
He further criticized the opposition, saying,
“The AIADMK government previously ran schemes like Amma Uppu sold in just ten shops and Amma Drinking Water available only at bus stands. Filing a plea against a well-received health scheme only reflects their jealousy of the DMK’s growing public support.”
Why This Matters
The filling of these long-standing dental vacancies is a crucial step for:
Improving dental education standards
Enhancing public oral healthcare services
Ensuring compliance with DCI regulations
Creating employment opportunities for qualified professionals
With Tamil Nadu aiming to set a benchmark in public healthcare, this recruitment drive signals the government’s continued commitment to human resource development in health education and services.
Conclusion
As Tamil Nadu ramps up its efforts to improve public health infrastructure, the immediate recruitment of dentists and technical staff serves as a welcome development. The government’s proactive response also ensures that healthcare delivery remains robust and accessible, especially in dental education and patient care.
